Professionalism and Social Behavior of Homosexual Teachers

Abstract


This study was designed to find out the professionalism and social behavior of homosexual teachers. The study utilized the mixed methods of research. The quantitative data was collected through a survey- correlational method with fifteen (15) homosexual teachers as respondents selected through snowball sampling. The qualitative research was done through in-depth interviews with five (5) randomly selected. The data in this study were gathered using researcher-made professionalism in relation to the code of ethics and social behavior questionnaire and an in-depth interview discussion guide. The study's independent variable was professionalism, while the dependent variable was the social behavior of homosexual teachers. Specifically, this study aimed to answer the following questions: What is the level of professionalism towards the code of ethics of homosexual teachers? What is the level of social behavior of homosexual teachers in terms of behavior towards colleagues, students, community, teaching manner, and religious activity? The statistical tools used in data analysis were the mean and standard deviation. The level of significance was set at 0.05 alpha. The overall result of the professionalism in relation to the code of ethics of the homosexual teachers (M-4.48, SD-0.14 is very high). Furthermore, the social behavior (M-3.64, SD-0.20} is high.
